Stockings are garments made from hosiery fabric and worn on the legs. They fit perfectly and cling to the legs. Some of them come separately for each leg and come up to the thigh. They come in different sizes, so women can choose the right fit. This kind might become lose and start slipping down if the right size is not worn. To keep them in place, you need to use a garter belt. Stockings are mostly used to cover the legs while wearing short dresses. This will make the woman feel more comfortable. They also give a sexy appeal to the legs. Women love to wear different varieties to suit the outfit.
In the earlier times, stockings were used by both men and women. In the recent times only women are wearing them in conjunction with formal or casual wear. The sheer variety can be worn with formal wear. While wearing formal skirts with shirts and blazers, women wear similar coloured ones. Sometimes these are worn according to the skin colour, but they can be coordinated with the colour of the dress too. Sheer material gives a nice shine and goes well for formal occasions. Opaque ones are available in many colours and can be worn according to the colour of the dress. You will find lace stitching on some varieties. This looks very dainty, but will suit only a few outfits. Fishnet variety is very sexy and is worn on special occasions. The beauty of these can be enhanced if they are paired with the right kind of attire. Silk variety will suit the formal wear. The casual dressing can be paired with opaque or hosiery ones. Depending on the mood of the person, they can be paired with many dresses, and unique look is created. Plus size stockings are available for larger women.
Women feel comfortable when they wear stockings with any kind of dress. The normal type is transparent and gives some breathing to the legs. As the demand for these is increasing more varieties and patterns are being created by the manufacturers. One can find the required variety from any local store or on the internet. They are protective against the harsh weathers and keep the skin moisturized. Women wear these in winter to keep them warm. They are made of cotton, silk, rayon and sheer. Some of them have a mix of Lycra. Any outfit, if accessorised well, and carried off with confidence looks great.
Stockings and Suspenders can complete a stocking set. Stockings were ushered in in 1940s; suspenders or garter belts came into fashion about ten years later. However at that time, the stockings and suspenders that were for sale on the market were constructed of laces and ribbons, therefore making them uncomfortable to wear. They weren’t the least bit practical as they were not durable.
After these ribbon and lace suspenders, suspenders with clips were introduced. But even these were very uncomfortable. The reason behind this was that these couldn’t hold the stockings up for more than a short time.
The primary purpose of a stocking suspender or a garter belt is to hold up the stockings. By holding on to the purpose of a suspender in mind, suspenders with metal clips were innovated. A bulk of women found that the suspenders with metal clasps are much better than plastic clasps, as this could in reality grip the stocking and keep it from falling down.
For being comfy, it’s essential to have an appropriate selection of stockings and suspenders. Suspenders generally come with either four, six or eight straps. High quality suspenders are made up of different length straps on the front, back and sides. If the belts have four straps, the back pair should be two inches longer than the front.
Some of the times, you may get skin allergies with these suspenders whether they be plastic or metal. A comfy and functional stocking suspender should be made of cotton, as it remains in place and the straps perform all the hold work. The straps should be mildly stretchable and not overly thick or loose.
It’s your most extraordinary day. The day you have been most looking for with your special guy. Weddings build exceptional memories for couples. While organizing for months or even sometimes years for that special day, many often think it’s only the wedding dress that matters. But no, bridal lingerie should always be on the checklist.
You require undergarments that will fit perfectly beneath your wedding gown. Wearing the proper kind of lingerie on your wedding day will also give that supercharge of sensuality and sexiness that automatically arouses your man. Here are a few details to keep in mind when choosing the perfect bridal lingerie.
White is your best selection. Nearly all gowns are white or beige so you would not want a bright color peeking through. Cream, ivory, rose, champagne and peach are also advisable as they are light colors and will easily match any style of wedding dress. However, if your gown is made of a sheer fabric, you really don’t need to wear a bra. Rather, you should have cups sewn in.
A quick way to hide a flabby stomach is to wear a corset. It will easily tuck you in and shapes your waist providing you with a flattering shape on your gown. There’s also what is called a bustier. It’s perfect to wear under a strapless gown and it really lifts your bustline and tucks in your waist. These are perfect shape formers that are really great for curvy or plus sized ladies.
Select what works for you. Pick out fabrics that are comfy and breathable. You will be wearing it on your most exceptional day so it is best that you select the undergarment with an almost bare feeling. Comfort provides you self-confidence. When you feel comfortable and at ease you have less to worry about on your special day. Cotton and silk lingerie is best to get that relaxed feeling.
To attain a smooth figure under that gown, try wearing a seamless panty. There are lots of seamless thongs and bras available to fit your strapless or backless gown. However, this may not be too sexy on your honeymoon. Change into your super sexy lace thong when the ceremony is concluded and be sure to entice your man on the special night.
Produce a feel of intimacy on your honeymoon with sheer, lace, and satin lingerie that will certainly spice up the nighttime. The color red stimulates most men and gives a real feeling of sensuality and seduction that he simply won’t be able to resist.
In selecting the perfect bridal lingerie, keep in mind that is should be comfy, super sexy, and functional. There are a whole lot of assortments from lace, sheer, satin and cotton that are fairly priced and readily available in stores or online.
A perfect wedding Is not all about the fancy flowers, exuberant receptions, or long, sophisticated gowns. Create your perfect wedding by picking out and wearing the right undergarments. Your special day shouldn’t be complete without it. You have found your perfect partner, now it’s time to find your perfect wedding lingerie.

In popular culture
The image of strippers as known today evolved through the late 1960s and 1970s in the U.S. and international cultures which embraced Americanized striptease, introduced into popular culture by the genre-defining performances of Carol Doda at the Condor Club in San Francisco, California.
Film, television, and theater
By the 1980s, Americans began to love the pole dancing and highly sexual imagery associated with today’s performers was widely accepted and frequently portrayed in film, television, and theater.
In addition to lesser-known videos such as A Night at the Revuebar (1983), the 1980s also featured mainstream films involving strippers and their work as part of the central narrative. These included Flashdance (1983), which told the story of blue-collar worker Alexandra (Alex) Owens (Jennifer Beals), who works as an exotic dancer in a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania bar at night and at a steel mill as a welder during the day. Blaze (1989) features Lolita Davidovitch as notorious stripper Blaze Starr. Starr herself appears in the film in a cameo role. Exotica (1994), directed by Atom Egoyan, is set in a Canadian lap-dance club, and portrays a man’s (Bruce Greenwood) obsession with a schoolgirl stripper named Christina (Mia Kirshner). Showgirls (1995) was directed by Paul Verhoeven and starred Elizabeth Berkley and Gina Gershon. Striptease (1996), was an adaptation of the novel starring Demi Moore. The Players Club (1998) starred LisaRaye as a girl who becomes a stripper to earn enough money to enter college and study journalism.
In Jekyll and Hyde (1997), the character of Lucy Harris (originally portrayed by Linda Eder) works as a prostitute and stripper in a small London club called The Red Rat, where she meets a multi-dimension man named Doctor Henry Jekyll, who turns into his evil persona Mr. Edward Hyde. Lucy performs the song “Bring on the Men” during a show at The Red Rat (which was later replaced with “Good ‘n’ Evil” in the Broadway production, some claiming “Bring on the Men” was too “risqué”). In Neighbours (1985), the character of Daphne is originally a stripper at Des’s bucks party, and eventually goes on to marry him. Married… with Children (1987–97) often featured Al Bundy, Jefferson D’Arcy, and the NO MA’AM crew spending a night at the Nudie Bar. In The Sopranos (1999–2007) business was often conducted at the Bada Bing strip club.
Dancing at the Blue Iguana (2000) is a feature film starring Daryl Hannah. The female cast of the film researched the film by dancing at strip clubs and created their parts and their storylines to be as realistic as possible. The Raymond Revuebar: The Art of Striptease (2002) is a documentary, directed by Simon Weitzman. Los Debutantes (2003) is a Chilean film set in a strip club in Santiago. Portraits of a Naked Lady Dancer (2004) is a documentary, directed by Deborah Rowe. In Closer (2004), Natalie Portman plays Alice, a young stripper just arrived in London from America. Crazy Horse Le Show (2004) features dance routines from the Crazy Horse, Paris. I Know Who Killed Me (2007) stars Lindsay Lohan as Dakota Moss, an alluring stripper involved in the machinations of a serial killer, and features a long striptease sequence at a strip club. In 2009 a DVD called Crazy Horse Paris featuring Dita Von Teese was released. Barely Phyllis is a play on Phyllis Dixey which was first staged at the Pomegranate Theatre, Chesterfield in 2009. Stripsearch (2001–), an ongoing Australian reality television show which centers around the training of male strippers. Degrassi: The Next Generation (2007), in the two-part season 6 finale titled “Don’t You Want Me”, Alex Nunez resorts to stripping after she and her mother do not have enough money to pay the rent on their apartment.

I’m working on a novel and trying to create a school uniform. It consists of a short pleated navy skirt, a short-sleeved white blouse/shirt and a navy cardigan with the school logo on – I want my character to wear stockings and suspenders, but not if it makes her appear slutty. They won’t be on show or anything. What do you think? Yes, or no?
Stockings and suspenders, or garters as we call them in the USA, are not "slutty" unless the skirt is too short and the stocking tops are flashed or are on display. They’re actually very proper and ladylike. Remember, all women, until recently always wore hosiery under their skirts or dresses and before the 1960′s when pantyhose or tights were invented, women wore stockings everyday. It was considered improper and even "slutty" not to wear them. Those of us who love vintage fashion and wear vintage clothing still feel this way!
